Andrew DeClercq is a former professional basketball player who had a long and successful career in the NBA. DeClercq was born on February 1, 1973, in Detroit, Michigan. He attended Clearwater Central Catholic High School in Clearwater, Florida, where he was a star basketball player. DeClercq went on to play college basketball at the University of Florida, where he was a four-year letterman and helped lead the team to two Final Four appearances.
After college, DeClercq was selected in the second round of the 1995 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors. The 6-foot-10 power forward played for several NBA teams during his 10-year career, including the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Boston Celtics, the Orlando Magic, and the Phoenix Suns. DeClercq was known for his strong rebounding and hustle on the court, and he was often praised by coaches and teammates for his work ethic and team-first attitude. Over the course of his NBA career, DeClercq played in 664 games and scored a total of 2,821 points.
After retiring from basketball, DeClercq remained involved in the sport as a coach and mentor. He worked as an assistant coach for the University of Florida men's basketball team from 2011 until 2015, and he currently serves as a spokesperson for the Florida High School Athletic Association. DeClercq is also active in his community, volunteering his time and resources to various charities and organizations. Despite his success both on and off the court, DeClercq remains humble and grateful for the opportunities that basketball has given him throughout his life.
