Benoit Benjamin is a former American professional basketball player who was born on November 22, 1964, in Monroe, Louisiana. At the age of 7, he moved to Texas with his family where he fell in love with basketball after playing with his father. He attended Creighton University in Nebraska where he played for the Creighton Bluejays men's basketball team from 1982 to 1985. During his college years, he averaged 13.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 3.4 blocks per game.
Following his standout college career, Benoit Benjamin was drafted as the third overall pick by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 1985 NBA draft. He played for the Clippers from 1985 to 1990 where he established himself as one of the league's dominant centers. During the 1985-86 season, he was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team after leading all rookies in rebounds and blocks per game. He played his best season in 1988-89, averaging 16.6 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks per game, while also being named to the All-Star team. He later played for the Seattle SuperSonics, Los Angeles Lakers, New Jersey Nets, Vancouver Grizzlies, Milwaukee Bucks, and CBA's Rockford Lightning. He retired from professional basketball in 2002, finishing his NBA career with 7,524 points, 6,663 rebounds, and 1,754 blocked shots.
