Bill Cartwright Autographs
Bill Cartwright, born on July 30th, 1957, is a retired American professional basketball player who is considered to be one of the most iconic centers of the 1990s. He played for numerous teams throughout his 16-year career, including the New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls, and Seattle Supersonics. Cartwright had a successful college career before being drafted third overall by the Knicks in 1979 NBA draft. During his college days, he was one of the most dominant players in the Pac-10 conference, leading the University of San Francisco to a national championship in 1977.
Cartwright played for the Knicks for ten seasons, where he was known for his tenacious defense and dominant presence in the paint. After a decade-long stint with the Knicks, he was traded to the Chicago Bulls in a blockbuster deal that sent Charles Oakley to New York. Cartwright's arrival in Chicago turned out to be a game-changer, as he provided an essential low-post presence that helped the Bulls win their first three championships. Despite suffering several injuries that hampered his performance, Cartwright remained a valuable asset in Chicago until his retirement in 1995.
After retiring, Cartwright transitioned to coaching, spending time as an assistant coach with several NBA teams, including the Phoenix Suns, New Jersey Nets, and the Los Angeles Lakers. He also served as the head coach of the Chicago Bulls for three seasons in 2001-2004. During his time as a coach, he continued to mentor young players and was known for his no-nonsense approach and attention to detail. Today, Cartwright's name is synonymous with basketball and remains a legend of the game whose impact is felt even after retirement.
