Fitch’s coaching style was renowned for its emphasis on defensive strategies and teamwork, which led to his teams being ranked as some of the best defensive teams in the league. His Boston Celtics team won two NBA championships in the 1980s and he was also named NBA Coach of the Year twice. Fitch’s coaching strategy was so effective that it served as the basis for the modern “hack-a-Shaq” technique where a team would purposely foul a poor free-throw shooter repeatedly to limit their scoring potential. In total, we tracked 87 items since 01/01/2008.
