Bill Hanzlik Autographs
Bill Hanzlik was born on December 8, 1957, in Denver, Colorado. He started playing basketball at a young age and eventually become a standout player at the University of Notre Dame. He was drafted by the Seattle SuperSonics in the second round of the 1980 NBA draft and went on to play for the club for two seasons, helping them reach the NBA playoffs twice.
In 1982, Hanzlik signed with the Denver Nuggets and played for the team for five seasons, becoming one of the team's most reliable defensive players during his tenure with the club. He was known for his tenacity, hustle, and hard work, which quickly made him a fan favorite. In 1984, he was named the Nuggets' team captain, and in 1986, he earned the NBA's J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship award, which was given to the player who displayed "outstanding service and dedication to the community."
After retiring from playing professional basketball, Hanzlik became an analyst for the Nuggets' telecasts and served as the team's head coach from 1997 to 1999. He then transitioned to broadcasting, providing color commentary for regional coverage of NCAA basketball games and hosting a local television show, "The Bill Hanzlik Show." He also founded a basketball academy that provides training and coaching to Colorado-based youth basketball players. Bill Hanzlik remains one of Denver Nuggets' most beloved figures and continues to make a significant contribution to Colorado's basketball community.
