Bingo Smith Autographs
Bingo Smith is a retired American professional basketball player who was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1946. His real name was Eugene Smith, but he got the nickname "Bingo" because of his love for the game. Smith attended Jackson State University and played college basketball under coach McCoy McLemore. He was a standout player for four years and scored more than 2,000 points in his career. Smith's talent and skills on the court paved the way for his professional basketball career.
After college, Bingo Smith was drafted by the San Diego Rockets in the first round of the 1969 NBA draft but was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers before the start of the season. Smith achieved his highest scoring average during his first season, averaging 17.8 points per game, earning him a spot on the 1969 NBA All-Rookie Team. He played small forward for the Cavs and became a vital player on the team, helping them reach the playoffs for the first time in franchise history. Smith played for the Cavaliers for ten seasons, and his skills on the court made him a fan favorite.
Smith ended his professional basketball career after one season with the San Diego Clippers, now the LA Clippers, in 1979. Numerous awards came his way in recognition of his contribution to the growth of basketball, including the St. Louis Walk of Fame, which honored him for his exceptional playing career. A skilled offensive player, Bingo Smith remains a notable player in Cavaliers' history, and his career is a testament to the talent and dedication that it takes to succeed in the NBA.
