In 1988, he was traded to the Atlanta Hawks, where he played for another five seasons. Throughout his NBA career, he was praised for his shooting accuracy, defensive skills, and physical presence in the paint.
Rasmussen retired from professional basketball in 1997, having played eleven seasons in the league. In his career, he tallied an impressive 6,668 points, 3,655 rebounds, and 623 blocked shots.
