Bob Rule Autographs
Bob Rule, born on June 29, 1944, was an American former professional basketball player who played primarily as a power forward and center. Rule played his college basketball at Colorado State University, where he led the team to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 1966. He would then be drafted with the twenty-seventh overall pick in the third round of the 1967 NBA draft by the Seattle SuperSonics.
In his rookie season, Rule played exceptionally well, averaging 22.1 points per game and 8.6 rebounds per game. The impressive stats earned him a spot on the NBA All-Rookie First Team. However, he suffered a broken leg in a game against the San Diego Rockets in December 1968, which slowed down his promising career. He played for several teams throughout his professional career, including the Cleveland Cavaliers, Portland Trail Blazers, and Philadelphia 76ers, but he was never able to achieve the success he had in his rookie year.
Outside of basketball, Bob Rule was known for his philanthropy work. He had a passion for helping people, which led him to work as a drug and alcohol counselor in Washington state once he retired from the NBA. In 2005, he was diagnosed with lung cancer, which he fought for six years before finally passing away on September 2, 2011. Bob Rule's career will always be remembered as a promising one cut short by an unfortunate injury.
