Brian Cook was born on December 4, 1980, in Lincoln, Illinois, USA. He is a retired professional basketball player who played in the NBA for nine seasons from 2003-2012. Brian is widely known for his versatility, shooting ability, and his notable play at Illinois State University, where he was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year twice in 2002 and 2003.
In college, Brian Cook led his team to back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances in 2002 and 2003 while putting up impressive career averages of 19.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round, 24th overall in the 2003 NBA draft. During his rookie year, Cook played a crucial role in the Lakers' success and helped the team reach the NBA finals. He continued to play for five seasons with the Lakers before joining the Orlando Magic in 2008 for two seasons, later playing his final two years with the Houston Rockets.
Brian Cook averaged 4.9 points and 2.5 rebounds per game in his NBA career. He was a sharpshooter from beyond the arc and is considered as one of the best perimeter shooting big men in NBA history. Throughout his career, Brian demonstrated an outstanding ethic, work-ethic, and leadership skills that extended off the court as well. Today, he is a successful businessman, and an Assistant Coach of the Cal Poly men's basketball team.
