After college, Winters was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1st round of the 1974 NBA Draft. However, he was then traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, where he spent most of his NBA career. Winters was a key player for the Bucks during the late 1970s and early 1980s, helping lead the team to four division titles and two conference championships.
