Bryon Russell Autographs
Bryon Russell is a former basketball player born on December 31, 1970 in San Bernardino, California. He played his college basketball at Long Beach State and was drafted in the second round of the 1993 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz. Russell quickly found success as a member of the Jazz, playing alongside legendary point guard John Stockton and power forward Karl Malone. In his rookie season, Russell played in all 82 games for the Jazz, averaging 6.4 points per game.
Russell is best known for his role in the 1997 and 1998 NBA Finals campaigns by the Jazz. In the 1997 Finals, he was tasked with guarding Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls, who hit a game-winning shot over Russell in Game 6 to secure the championship for the Bulls. The following year, the Jazz made it to the Finals again but lost to the Bulls in six games. Russell's defense was again tested against Jordan, but he put in strong performances throughout the series, including a 17-point effort in Game 2. Russell is still considered one of the toughest defenders in NBA history and his rivalry with Jordan has become legendary.
Russell played a total of 13 seasons, spending time with the Jazz, Washington Wizards, and Denver Nuggets. He retired in 2006 with career averages of 7.3 points per game, 3.1 rebounds per game, and 1.2 assists per game. Russell's NBA career was a testament to his hard work and dedication to the game of basketball, and his impact on the court continues to be felt by fans and players alike.
