Butch Beard Autographs

Butch BeardButch Beard is an American retired professional basketball player and coach from Hardinsburg, Kentucky. He was born on May 4, 1947, and attended Breckinridge County High School before going on to play basketball at the University of Louisville. During his college career, Beard was a two-time All-American and led his team to two National Invitation Tournament titles in 1969 and 1970.
After college, Beard was selected eighth overall by the Atlanta Hawks in the 1969 NBA Draft. Throughout his professional basketball career, he played for several teams, including the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, and New York Knicks. In 1975, he was a member of the Golden State Warriors championship team, contributing significantly to the team’s success as a point guard.
After retiring as a player in 1979, Beard went on to become an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors, eventually working his way up to become the head coach in 1992. He later served as the head coach for the New Jersey Nets and the Howard University men’s basketball team. Beard is remembered as a versatile and skilled player who was known for his tremendous ball handling and court vision.
