Cedric Maxwell Autographs
Cedric Maxwell is a retired American professional basketball player who was born in Kinston, North Carolina, on November 21, 1955. He attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he played for the Charlotte 49ers. In 1977, he was drafted by the Boston Celtics in the first round, twelfth overall and went on to have a successful basketball career.
Maxwell played for the Celtics for eight seasons, from 1977 to 1985. He was known for his tenacious rebounding, versatile scoring ability, and his clutch performance in crucial games. In the 1981 NBA Finals against the Houston Rockets, he had one of the best games of his career, scoring 28 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. His performance led to him being named the NBA Finals MVP, and the Celtics winning the championship. Maxwell's contribution to the Celtics' success was recognized when his jersey number, 31, was retired by the team.
After leaving the Celtics, Maxwell played for the Los Angeles Clippers and Houston Rockets before retiring in 1988. Following his playing career, he became a basketball analyst and commentator, covering games for various networks including ABC, ESPN, and TNT. Maxwell is widely regarded as one of the best power forwards to have played for the Boston Celtics, and his impact on the team's success in the 1980s cannot be overstated.
