Channing Frye was born on May 17, 1983, in White Plains, New York. He attended St. Mary's High School, where he was recognized as one of the top high school basketball players in the state of Arizona. Frye received a scholarship to play basketball at the University of Arizona, where he played for four years and was named First Team All-Pac-10 in his senior year. In 2005, Frye was the 8th overall pick in the NBA draft, selected by the New York Knicks. He played two seasons for the Knicks, followed by a year with the Portland Trail Blazers. In 2009, Frye signed as a free agent with the Phoenix Suns, where he played for five seasons. During his time with the Suns, Frye became known for his three-point shooting abilities and helped the team reach the Western Conference Finals in 2010.
