Clem Haskins Autographs
Clem Haskins was an American professional basketball player and coach, born on August 11, 1943, in Campbellsville, Kentucky. Haskins played basketball at Taylor County High School before attending Western Kentucky University, where he played for three seasons. Haskins’ standout performances as a Hilltopper earned him an NBA draft selection in 1967 by the Chicago Bulls.
Haskins played in the NBA for six seasons, from 1967 to 1973. He played for the Chicago Bulls, Phoenix Suns, and the Washington Bullets, averaging 6.1 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. However, it was in Europe where Haskins enjoyed his most successful playing days. He played for several teams in Belgium, where he was a two-time league MVP and led his team to two national championships.
After retiring as a player, Haskins transitioned into coaching. He spent his early coaching days at Western Kentucky, where he led the Hilltoppers to two Ohio Valley Conference championships and one NCAA Tournament appearance. In 1986, Haskins became the head coach of the University of Minnesota men's basketball team. Over the next 13 years, Haskins led the program to seven NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Final Four in 1997. However, Haskins’ tenure at Minnesota ended abruptly in 1999 when he resigned following an academic scandal. Despite the controversy, Haskins’ career as a basketball player and coach is one of the most notable in American history.
