Clint Capela is a Swiss professional basketball player who currently plays for the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Capela was born in Geneva, Switzerland, on May 18, 1994, and began playing basketball at a young age. He would eventually move to France in 2012 to pursue his basketball career and play for Chalon-sur-Saône in the French LNB Pro A league.
Capela’s basketball career began to garner attention during the 2014 NBA draft, where he was selected by the Houston Rockets with the 25th overall pick. However, Capela would not join the Rockets until the 2015-2016 season, where he would begin to make his mark on the league. In his first season with the Rockets, Capela played in 77 games and started in 35 of them. He averaged 7.0 points and 6.4 rebounds in just 18.3 minutes per game. Since his rookie season, Capela has gone on to become a vital part of the Rockets team, and in the 2017-2018 season, he averaged 13.9 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game. In the 2018-2019 season, Capela signed a five-year, $90 million contract extension with the Rockets, showing his worth to the team and the league.
Capela’s dominance on the court comes from his amazing skills as a rebounder, shot blocker, and defender. He is known for his athleticism, strength, and ability to move without the ball. He is a physical presence on the court and has been compared to NBA legends such as Dwight Howard and Tyson Chandler. Despite his recent injury setbacks, Capela is considered to be a top center in the league and is expected to continue to dominate on the court in the years to come.
