Corie Blount was born on January 4, 1969, in Los Angeles, California, and is a retired American professional basketball player. Blount initially attended San Pascual High School and then transferred to Tilden Career Community Academy High School in Chicago, where he helped his team win the 1987 Public League championship. After graduating from high school, he was recruited to the University of Cincinnati and played in the team from 1987 to 1991. During his college career, he helped lead the team to reach the NCAA tournament in every season and reached the Sweet Sixteen in 1989.
Blount's basketball career continued as he was selected by the Chicago Bulls in the 1991 NBA Draft in the first round as the 25th pick overall. He played for the Bulls from 1991 to 1995 and was part of three championship teams from 1991 to 1993. After his stint with the Bulls, Blount went on to play for the Los Angeles Lakers, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Phoenix Suns, and the Toronto Raptors. He played his last game on April 14, 2004, after his 11-year NBA career, with career statistics of 3,070 points, 3,227 rebounds, and 651 assists. After retiring from professional basketball, Blount became a business owner in the cannabis industry, where he advocates for the legalization of medical marijuana and its benefits to athletes.
