Cotton Fitzsimmons was an American basketball coach who left a lasting impact on the game. Born on October 7, 1931, in Hannibal, Missouri, Fitzsimmons’ passion for the sport started early. He played college basketball at Midwestern State University, where he earned the nickname "Cotton" for his cotton-colored hair. Cotton Fitzsimmons’ contributions to the world of basketball did not go unnoticed. In 1991, he was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. Additionally, the NBA honored him with the Chuck Daly Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004. Fitzsimmons passed away on July 24, 2004, in Phoenix, Arizona, at the age of 72.
