He played high school basketball for Camden High School and was considered one of the best high school basketball players in the country. In 2001, Dajuan Wagner joined Memphis University to play college basketball. He continued to show his excellent scoring ability and was named Conference USA Freshman of the Year. After his freshman year, Wagner declared for the NBA draft and was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers as the sixth overall pick. He played for the Cavaliers from 2002 to 2005 and had the best year of his career in the 2003-2004 season when he averaged 13.4 points per game.
