Danny Ainge is a former professional basketball player and the current President of Basketball Operations for the Boston Celtics. Born on March 17, 1959, in Eugene, Oregon, Ainge grew up in a family of athletes and was naturally inclined towards sports. After his playing career, Ainge shifted to the coaching and administrative side of basketball. He coached the Phoenix Suns for four seasons and the Brigham Young men’s basketball team for three seasons. In 2003, he was hired by the Boston Celtics as the Executive Director of Basketball Operations and eventually became the General Manager. Under his leadership, the Celtics won the NBA championship in 2008 and made several other deep playoff runs. Ainge’s contributions to the Celtics’ success have earned him recognition in the basketball community and he is regarded as one of the best executives in the sport.
