Danny Green is a retired American professional basketball player who was born in North Babylon, New York, on June 22, 1987. He rose to prominence as a shooting guard/small forward with an impeccable three-point shot. During his basketball career, he had a reputation for being a deadly shooter from beyond the arc, often knocking down shots from range to help his team score. Before entering the NBA, Green played four seasons for the North Carolina Tar Heels.
After his stint with the UNC Tar Heels, Green was drafted 46th overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round of the 2009 NBA draft. However, he wasn't able to find a stable position with the Cavaliers, and he ended up bouncing around the league before finally finding his footing with the San Antonio Spurs in 2010. From there, Green became an integral part of the Spurs' championship team in 2014, where his outside shooting played a key role in propelling the team to the NBA crown. In total, Green played for 10 seasons in the NBA, playing for five different teams and accumulating career averages of 8.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game.
Green played for several elite teams in his career, including the Spurs and the Toronto Raptors. One of the key factors that set him apart was his three-point shooting, as he knocked down 40% of his shots during his stellar career. He is, in fact, one of the most accomplished three-point shooters in NBA history. In addition to his nine-year run in the NBA, Green also played in the EuroLeague for seven games with the Slovenian team Union Olimpija Ljubljana. He announced his retirement in 2021, capping off an impressive career that was highlighted by his prowess as a three-point shooter and his ability to knock down clutch shots when it mattered most.
