Dario Saric is a professional basketball player from Croatia who currently plays as a power forward for the Philadelphia 76ers in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Born on April 8th, 1994, in Šibenik, Croatia, Saric began playing basketball in his early days with the youth team at KK Zabok. He later joined the KK Zagreb team before making his way to the top-level Croatian team, Cibona Zagreb, where he spent three seasons.
In 2014, Dario Saric was drafted 12th overall by the Orlando Magic in the first round of the NBA draft but was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers on draft night. Though he didn't join the team until 2016, Saric made an immediate impact, finishing third in the NBA Rookie of the Year race. He was also named to the NBA All-Rookie First team while playing as a small forward, averaging 12.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in his debut season.
Saric continued to show improvement in his second season, becoming one of the 76ers' key players as a power forward. He was named as the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month in both March and April and eventually helped lead the team to the playoffs, where they advanced to the second round after defeating the Miami Heat in the opening round. With his impressive play, Saric earned the respect of the league and the 76ers signed him to a three-year contract extension in 2019, making him a vital part of their future plans.
