Darko Milicic Autographs
Darko Milicic was born on June 20, 1985, in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia (now Serbia). He spent his childhood playing basketball with the KK Vojvodina team in his hometown. Milicic was a standout player in his youth, joining the Serbian national team at age 16. He quickly caught the attention of European scouts for his size, athleticism, and ability to play inside and outside the paint.
In 2003, at the age of 18, Milicic declared for the NBA Draft, becoming the second overall pick by the Detroit Pistons. He was the youngest player to be selected in the draft at that time. Milicic's time in Detroit was frustrating as he struggled to find consistent minutes, often serving as a backup to All-Star center Ben Wallace. After three seasons with the Pistons, he was traded to the Orlando Magic, where he continued to struggle. Milicic's NBA career never lived up to its potential, and he retired from basketball in 2012, playing his final seasons in Europe.
Despite his lackluster NBA career, Milicic remains a celebrated player in Europe. He helped Serbia win the gold medal at the 2002 World Championships and the silver medal at the 2003 European Championships. Milicic also won back-to-back league titles with KK Hemofarm in Serbia in 2001 and 2002. He may not have lived up to his NBA potential, but Darko Milicic still remains one of the most talented basketball players to come out of Serbia.
