After college, Collison was selected 21st overall in the 2009 NBA draft by the New Orleans Hornets. He went on to play for several NBA teams, including the Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings, and Indiana Pacers. During his time in the NBA, Collison was known for his quickness, ball-handling, and ability to shoot from the perimeter. He was also a solid defender, leading the league in steals per game during the 2017-2018 season.

In June 2019, Collison announced his retirement from the NBA at the age of 32. Throughout his career, he averaged 12.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. Collison was respected by his coaches, teammates, and opponents alike for his hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship on and off the court.
