Detlef Schrempf Autographs
Detlef Schrempf, born on January 21, 1963, in Leverkusen, Germany, is a former professional basketball player. He started playing basketball at the age of 11 and later became a member of the junior team of Leverkusen basketball club in 1978. After moving to the United States, Schrempf played college basketball for the University of Washington where he was named the Pac-10 Player of the Year twice. Schrempf was selected by the Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the 1985 NBA Draft as the eighth overall pick.
Schrempf played for five different NBA teams throughout his 16-year career. In his second year with the Indiana Pacers, Schrempf helped the team to reach the Eastern Conference Finals. He was named the NBA Sixth Man of the Year twice in his career, in 1991 and 1992. Schrempf was also selected to play in the NBA All-Star Game three times from 1993 to 1995. Schrempf was known for his versatility on the court, as he could play multiple positions and was a strong passer and 3-point shooter.
Schrempf ended his NBA career in 2001 with a total of 15,761 points, 6,848 rebounds, and 3,987 assists. After retiring, Schrempf became involved in several philanthropic causes, including creating the Detlef Schrempf Foundation to support children and families in need in the Pacific Northwest. Schrempf was also inducted into the Pac-12 Hall of Honor and the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in recognition of his successful basketball career.
