Devean George was born on August 29, 1977, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and grew up in a rough neighborhood. However, he found an escape in basketball and went on to become one of the most successful players of his time. George played basketball for Augsburg College before being drafted in the first round by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1999 NBA Draft.
George played for the Lakers from 1999 to 2006 and won three NBA championships in that time. He was known for his versatility and ability to play both small and power forward positions. In 2006, George was traded to the Dallas Mavericks, where he played for two seasons before ending his NBA career with the Golden State Warriors in 2010. In 2013, he founded the George Group North, a real estate holding company that specializes in redeveloping low-income areas.
