Dick Garrett Autographs

Dick Garrett was a legendary basketball player who was born on February 26, 1947, in Seattle, Washington. He had a fruitful career in basketball that spanned over 15 years. Garrett attended Seattle’s Franklin High School before moving to Iowa to study at Iowa State University. In college, Garrett played for the Cyclones from 1966-1969, leading the team in scoring during his final season. He averaged 19.4 points per game that season and was named a first-team All-Big Eight Conference player.
After college, Garrett was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the fourth round of the 1969 NBA Draft. Garrett became a key player for the team, known for his defense and ball handling skills. Over the course of his long career, he played for six different NBA teams including the Lakers, Buffalo Braves, Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago Bulls, Golden State Warriors, and Portland Trail Blazers. He averaged 10.3 points per game throughout his career, with 3.3 assists and 1.8 rebounds per game. In 1973, Garrett became the first player to suit up for the NBA's new Buffalo Braves team. He retired after the 1983 season.
Garrett's legacy continued to soar even after his playing days were over. His philanthropic pursuits included working as a mentor and coach for young basketball players in his hometown, Seattle. He was also actively involved in charity events and used his platform to help uplift the youth. Garrett died on August 7, 2019, at the age of 72, but his contribution to basketball and his community will always be remembered. Dick Garrett will forever be remembered as a talented basketball player and a selfless humanitarian.
