Dwayne Bacon is an American professional basketball player who was born on August 30, 1995, in Lakeland, Florida. He played high school basketball at McKeel Academy in Lakeland, where he was considered one of the best players in the state. In his senior year, he averaged 25.6 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game, earning him the title of Florida's Mr. Basketball.
After graduating from high school, Dwayne Bacon committed to play college basketball at Florida State University. As a freshman, he showed promise, averaging 15.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. In his sophomore year, he improved his stats, averaging 17.2 points and 4.2 rebounds per game, and was named to the All-ACC Second Team. In April 2017, he declared for the NBA draft and was selected by the Charlotte Hornets with the 40th overall pick.
In his rookie season, Dwayne Bacon played in 53 games for the Hornets, averaging 3.3 points and 1.1 rebounds per game. He spent the majority of the season in the G League, where he averaged 17.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. He returned to the Hornets for the 2018-2019 season, playing in 43 games and averaging 7.3 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. He continued to improve his game during the 2019-2020 season, averaging 5.7 points and 2.1 rebounds per game in 39 games. He currently plays as a shooting guard/small forward for the Orlando Magic, acquired in 2020.
