Eddie Griffin Autographs
Eddie Griffin was an American professional basketball player born on May 30, 1982, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended Roman Catholic High School, where he established himself as a promising basketball player. During his senior year, he led his team to the PIAA State Championship and was named the MVP of the final game. He was rated among the top high school basketball prospects in the country and accepted a scholarship to play for Seton Hall University.
Griffin played only one season at Seton Hall, in which he averaged 17.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 4.4 blocks per game. He was selected as the Big East Conference Player of the Year and the National Freshman of the Year. In the 2001 NBA draft, he was picked seventh overall by the New Jersey Nets and was subsequently traded to the Houston Rockets. Griffin played three seasons with the Rockets, averaging 8.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game.
However, Griffin's NBA career did not live up to the expectations set by his college performance. He struggled with off-court problems, including a drinking problem, multiple arrests, and missed practices. In 2004, the Rockets traded him to the New Jersey Nets, but he was waived shortly after. He later played for the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Dallas Mavericks, but his performance was hampered by his personal problems. Griffin's basketball career was cut short by his untimely death on August 17, 2007, at the age of 25. Despite his struggles, Griffin left a lasting impact on the basketball world, and his talent and potential are still remembered by his fans and peers.
