Elvin Hayes Autographs
Elvin Hayes is a former American professional basketball player. He was born on November 17, 1945, in Rayville, Louisiana. Hayes was a standout player during his college career at the University of Houston, where he earned the nickname "The Big E." During his time at Houston, Hayes became one of the most dominant scorers in college basketball history, averaging more than 31 points and 17.2 rebounds per game.
In 1968, Hayes was drafted by the San Diego Rockets as the first overall pick in the NBA draft. He spent nine seasons with the Rockets, earning nine All-Star selections and leading the NBA in scoring during the 1968-69 season. In 1972, Hayes was traded to the Baltimore Bullets, where he continued to put up impressive numbers. He was a key player on the Bullets team that won the 1978 NBA championship. Hayes retired from the NBA in 1984, having scored more than 27,000 points and grabbed over 16,000 rebounds during his career.
Hayes was known for his fierce competitive spirit and his ability to dominate the game on both ends of the court. He was renowned for his unstoppable turnaround jumper, which was nearly impossible to defend. In addition to his success on the court, Hayes was also a dedicated humanitarian, actively supporting charities and community organizations throughout his career. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1990, cementing his status as one of the greatest players in basketball history.
