Gene Guarilia Autographs

Gene Guarilia was an American professional basketball player born on August 10, 1937, in Westerly, Rhode Island. He attended the College of the Holy Cross and played for the Crusaders. Guarilia played a vital role in leading his team to the NCAA tournament in 1958 and 1959. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 1959 NBA draft by the Boston Celtics.
Guarilia played as a forward for the Boston Celtics from 1959-1963. He won championship rings with the team in 1961 and 1962. Gene was a strong player on the court scoring 2,371 points, grabbing 1,119 rebounds, and handing out 262 assists while playing for the Celtics. His physical play was a huge reason he was valued by the Celtics. Although Gene only played four years in the NBA, he was able to build a reputation as a fierce defender and a tenacious rebounder, and was quickly recognized as one of the best players of his time.
Gene Guarilia retired from professional basketball in 1963. After his playing days ended, Guarilia returned to Westerly, Rhode Island, and became a successful businessman. Although his career was short, he made it memorable by winning two NBA championships as part of Boston Celtics dynasty in the early 1960s. Today, Guarilia is remembered as a gritty and fierce competitor who helped lead the Celtics to some of their greatest victories. His legacy still lives on as a reminder of his impressive and impactful career in the NBA.
