George Yardley Autographs
George Yardley was an American professional basketball player who was born in Los Angeles, California, in 1928. He attended Stanford University, where he developed his basketball skills, and he was eventually drafted into the NBA in 1950 by the Fort Wayne Pistons. Yardley played for several different teams throughout his career, including the Pistons, the Syracuse Nationals, and the Detroit Falcons.
During his time in the NBA, George Yardley was known for his excellent scoring ability. In the 1957-58 season, he became the first player in league history to score more than 2,000 points in a single season, averaging 27.8 points per game for the Detroit Pistons. Yardley was also named to the All-Star team six times during his career and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1996.
After retiring from basketball in 1960, Yardley worked as a sales representative for a chemical company. Despite his success on the basketball court, Yardley stayed modest and was known for his positive attitude and commitment to teamwork. He passed away in 2004 at the age of 75, but his legacy as one of the greatest scorers in NBA history will never be forgotten.
