Grant Long Autographs
Grant Long is a former basketball player who played in the NBA from 1988 to 2003. Long was born on March 12, 1966, in Romulus, Michigan, and attended Eastern Michigan University, where he played college basketball. He played small forward for the EMU Eagles from 1984 to 1988 and was one of the leading scorers in the team.
In 1988, Long was chosen in the second round of the NBA draft by the Miami Heat, where he played until 1995. Other teams Long played for are the Atlanta Hawks, Vancouver Grizzlies, Detroit Pistons, and Boston Celtics. He was known for his tough defense and his ability to play multiple positions. In his 15-year-long NBA career, Long played 972 games, scored 9,475 points, grabbed 6,844 rebounds, and dished out 1,891 assists. He had a career average of 9.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game.
Despite his relatively low draft pick, Grant Long had a consistent and well-respected career in the NBA. He was a durable player, rare among professional athletes, as he played in all 82 games for four out of his 15 NBA seasons. He was also a clubhouse leader, and several of his former teammates attribute part of their successes to the influence that Long had on the team. He retired in 2003, becoming a color analyst for Fox Sports Detroit, and later founded his own consulting firm. Overall, Grant Long's contribution to the NBA was significant, and his legacy as a player and a team leader will forever be remembered in the sport.
