Happy Hairston Autographs
Happy Hairston was an accomplished basketball player known for his powerful play style and impressive scoring abilities. He was born on May 31, 1942, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and attended A&T State University where he played for the Aggies basketball team. He became one of the best college basketball players in the country, leading his team to the Division II national championship in 1964.
After college, Hairston played professional basketball in the American Basketball Association (ABA) and the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played for seven different teams throughout his career, including the Los Angeles Lakers, Detroit Pistons, and Seattle SuperSonics. He was known as a strong defender and rebounder, and his powerful slam dunks were a fan favorite. During his time with the Lakers in the early 1970s, he played alongside NBA legends Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, and Gail Goodrich and helped the team win an NBA championship in 1972.
Sadly, Hairston's basketball career was cut short due to injury, and he retired from the sport in 1975. After his retirement, he became a successful businessman and worked in real estate, construction, and finance. He also remained active in the basketball community, working as a commentator and serving as a coach and mentor to young players. Hairston passed away on May 1, 2001, at the age of 58, leaving behind a legacy as one of the strongest and most respected players in basketball history.
