Herbert Jones is a professional basketball player from Greensboro, Alabama, who currently plays for the New Orleans Pelicans in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Jones began his basketball career in high school, where he played for Hale County High School in Moundville, Alabama. During his senior year, he averaged 22.7 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game and was named the Alabama Class 4A Player of the Year.
After graduating high school, Jones continued his basketball career at the University of Alabama, where he played for the Crimson Tide from 2017 to 2021. During his time at Alabama, Jones was known for his versatility on the court, playing multiple positions and excelling on both offense and defense. In his senior year, he was named the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Player of the Year and the SEC Defensive Player of the Year, becoming the first player in conference history to win both awards in the same season.
In the 2021 NBA draft, Jones was selected by the New Orleans Pelicans with the 35th overall pick. He signed a multi-year contract with the team and has quickly become a fan favorite for his tenacious defense and all-around skill set. As of 2023, Jones is considered one of the rising stars of the NBA, and many analysts predict that he has a bright future ahead of him in the league.
