Horace Grant was born on July 4, 1965, in Augusta, Georgia. He is a retired American professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for 17 seasons. Grant was an imposing power forward who was famous for his strength, versatility, and exceptional rebounding skills. He attended Clemson University from 1983 to 1987, where he played in the ACC and was recognized as an All-ACC First-Team player as a senior.
Horace Grant began his NBA career in 1987 when he was drafted in the first round by the Chicago Bulls. His rookie season was outstanding, averaging 10.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, making him one of the most promising forwards in the NBA. Later, Grant joined Michael Jordan, and they formed a formidable partnership that led the Chicago Bulls to three consecutive NBA titles from 1991-1993. In 1999, he joined the Orlando Magic, where he played for four seasons, and he also had stints with the Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks. Grant was known for his ability to play solid defense and score consistently, making him an all-round player that could provide his team with what they needed.
Horace Grant finished his NBA career with an impressive record, having played in 1165 games and averaged 11.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game over 17 seasons. He was selected for the NBA All-Defensive team four times and was named the NBA All-Star for the first time in 1994. Grant was an important part of the success of the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s, and he is regarded as one of the best defenders in the game. Grant's career highlights include 4 NBA Championships and an Olympic gold medal in 1992 as part of the Dream Team. Off the court, he has remained involved in basketball and as a businessman.
