Ike Diogu Autographs
Ikechukwu Somtochukwu Diogu, popularly known as Ike Diogu, is a retired Nigerian-American basketball player. Born on September 11, 1983, in Buffalo, New York, Diogu began his basketball journey at a young age. He attended high school at Garland High School in Texas, where he led his team to a state championship in 2002, and was named a McDonald's All-American.
After high school, Diogu joined the Arizona State Sun Devils to play college basketball. In his freshman year, he was named the Pac-10 Freshman of the Year, and he went on to be named the Pac-10 Player of the Year in his junior year. In the 2005 NBA draft, Diogu was selected ninth overall by the Golden State Warriors. He played for the Warriors for two seasons before moving to different teams, including the Indiana Pacers, the Portland Trail Blazers, and the Los Angeles Clippers. Diogu's professional career also took him overseas where he played for basketball clubs in countries like Puerto Rico, China, Turkey, and Venezuela.
Throughout his basketball career, Ike Diogu was known for his strong post moves and his physical play on both ends of the court. He was also a consistent scorer, and he tallied an average of 6.0 points and 3.1 rebounds in 225 NBA games. In 2015, Diogu joined the Nigerian national basketball team, and he helped the team qualify for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He also played for Nigeria in the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup, where he averaged 16.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Today, Ike Diogu is retired from basketball, but his contributions to the sport will always be remembered.
