Jamaal Wilkes Autographs
Jamaal Wilkes was born on May 2, 1953, in Berkeley, California. He played basketball at Santa Barbara High School and soon emerged as one of the leading players in the state. He went on to play for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), from 1971 to 1974, where he won two NCAA championships.
Wilkes was selected eleventh overall in the 1974 NBA draft by the Golden State Warriors. He became an integral part of their team and helped them win an NBA championship in 1975. In 1980, Wilkes was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, where he played alongside Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He played a key role in the team's championship victories in 1980, 1982, and 1985. He was also named to the NBA All-Star team three times during his career.
Wilkes was known for his smooth and efficient style of play. He had an uncanny ability to score points while hardly ever taking a bad shot. He was a true team player, always willing to sacrifice personal glory for the good of the team. He retired from professional basketball in 1986 with a career total of 14,664 points, 5,117 rebounds, and 1,160 assists. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012.
