Jason Maxiell is a former American professional basketball player who was born on February 18, 1983, in Chicago, Illinois. His basketball career began during his high school years at Newman Smith High School in Carrollton, Texas, where he led his team to Texas State Championship twice. Jason then attended the University of Cincinnati where he played for the Bearcats and was named the Conference USA Player of the Year during his senior year.
After his college career, Jason was selected as the 26th pick in the 2005 NBA draft by the Detroit Pistons. He played for the Pistons for a total of eight seasons and was known for his toughness, strong defensive skills, and high-energy play. Jason was a key player on the Pistons’ 2008 NBA Championship team and was touted as one of the best power forwards in the league.
Throughout his NBA career, Jason also spent time playing for the Orlando Magic, Charlotte Hornets, and the International Basketball League’s Grand Rapids Danger. In 2018, he announced his retirement from basketball after a 14-year career. Throughout his career, Jason’s athleticism and determination made a significant impact in the game of basketball, both domestically and internationally.
