Jerry Reinsdorf is an American businessman and sports owner who has been a prominent figure in the world of baseball. Born on February 25, 1936, in Brooklyn, New York, Reinsdorf graduated from George Washington University Law School and practiced law before moving to Chicago in 1957. Under Reinsdorf's ownership, the White Sox experienced a period of mixed success on the field but made significant strides off the field. Reinsdorf invested in the team's ballpark, Comiskey Park (renamed U.S. Cellular Field in 2003), and oversaw renovations and upgrades to modernize the stadium. He also played a key role in the creation of the Central Division of the American League, which helped to better balance the league's competitiveness. In 1993, the White Sox won the American League West division, their first divisional title since 1983.
