Jerry Sichting Autographs
Jerry Sichting was born on November 29, 1956 in Collegeville, Indiana. He attended Martinsville High School where he was a standout basketball player. He then played four years at Purdue University. During college, Sichting was a three-year team captain and led the Boilermakers in free-throw percentage all four seasons. He averaged 13.7 points, 3.0 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game during his college career. Sichting was inducted into the Purdue Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014.
Sichting was drafted in the fourth round of the 1979 NBA draft by the Golden State Warriors. He played 10 seasons in the NBA, from 1979 to 1989. Sichting played for five different teams, including the Indiana Pacers, Boston Celtics, Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers and Milwaukee Bucks. Sichting played a significant role for the Celtics during the 1985-86 season, helping the team win their 16th NBA championship. He played alongside basketball legends such as Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, and Robert Parish. Sichting finished his NBA career with an average of 6.9 points, 2.6 assists and 1.5 rebounds per game.
After retiring from playing basketball, Sichting continued his career as a coach. He started as an assistant coach for the Minnesota Timberwolves in 1995, and after several stops with various NBA teams, he became an assistant coach with the Boston Celtics in 2007. Sichting then served as an assistant coach with the New Jersey Nets before returning to the Celtics as an assistant coach once again in 2010. Sichting has continued to be an integral part of the Celtics organization, working as a scout and player development coach.
