Jim McMillian Autographs
Jim McMillian was an American professional basketball player who was born on March 11, 1948, in Raeford, North Carolina. He is best known for his successful career in the National Basketball Association (NBA), where he played for six seasons. McMillian started his basketball career with the Columbia University team, where he led his team to an Ivy League title.
In 1970, McMillian was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round (13th overall) of the NBA draft. He quickly became an integral part of the Lakers team, averaging 15.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in his rookie season, which earned him a spot on the NBA All-Rookie Team. McMillian's scoring and shooting ability were essential to the Lakers' success in the early 1970s. He helped the Lakers to win three Western Conference championships and an NBA championship in 1972.
McMillian spent six seasons with the Lakers before being traded to the Buffalo Braves in 1975. He went on to play two more seasons for the New York Knicks before retiring in 1978. McMillian ended his NBA career with an average of 14.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. In 2001, he was inducted into the Columbia University Athletics Hall of Fame. Sadly, McMillian passed away on May 16, 2016, at the age of 68, leaving behind a legacy as one of the greatest scoring forwards in NBA history.
