Johnny Moore was a professional basketball player who played for eight years in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Born on December 14, 1958, in Fort Worth, Texas, Moore attended the University of Texas, San Antonio. He was a standout player for the Roadrunners, amassing 1,295 points, 576 assists, and 285 rebounds in his college career. Moore led his team to a 22-6 record during his senior year, showcasing his impressive basketball skills as a playmaker and scorer.
Moore was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs in the second round of the 1980 NBA Draft, and he quickly became an essential player for the team. In his rookie season, Moore averaged 9.4 points, 5.8 assists, and 1.8 rebounds per game. He improved his performance in the following years, peaking in the 1984-85 NBA season when he led the league in assists, averaging 9.6 per game. Moore was also known for his solid defense, often guarding the opposing team's top players. Unfortunately, a knee injury cut his career short, and he retired from the NBA after the 1987-88 season. Moore remains a beloved figure among Spurs fans, and the team retired his number 00 jersey in 1989.

He underwent a successful kidney transplant in 2013 and remains active in the San Antonio community to this day.
