Junior Bridgeman was born on September 17, 1953, in East Chicago, Indiana. He is a retired American professional basketball player in the NBA who played for the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Clippers during his 12-year basketball career. Bridgeman attended the University of Louisville, where he was a star basketball player, and a college teammate of future Hall of Fame player and coach, Rick Pitino. During his time in college, he led the Cardinals to two Final Fours, before being selected eighth overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1975 NBA Draft. However, he was later traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, where he would spend most of his career.
As a player, Bridgeman was known for his ability to score, with a career average of 13.6 points per game. He was also a versatile player, capable of playing multiple positions and defending against many players. He was an excellent shooter, recording a career field goal percentage of .499, and a three-point percentage of .327. Bridgeman was a key member of the Milwaukee Bucks team that reached the Eastern Conference Finals three times in the early 1980s. He played a total of 711 games during his career and scored 9,319 points.
After retiring from basketball, Bridgeman went on to become a successful entrepreneur, owning over 225 Wendys franchises and being ranked by Forbes as one of the wealthiest African-American people in the United States. However, his legacy as a player remains significant, and Junior Bridgeman is remembered by fans as a talented and reliable contributor to the Milwaukee Bucks and the NBA as a whole.
