Katie Douglas Autographs
Katie Douglas is a former professional basketball player from the United States who was born on May 7, 1979, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She attended Perry Meridian High School, where she excelled in basketball and was named a McDonald's All-American in 1997 before going on to play for Purdue University. During her time at Purdue, Douglas was a four-year starter and helped lead the team to two Big Ten championships and a spot in the 2001 NCAA championship game.
Douglas began her professional career in 2001 when she was selected as the 10th overall pick in the WNBA draft by the Orlando Miracle. After three seasons in Orlando, she was traded to the Connecticut Sun, where she became a cornerstone of the team's success over the next several seasons. She led the Sun to three WNBA finals appearances and was named an All-Star six times during her tenure in Connecticut. She also played overseas during the WNBA offseason, including stints in Spain, Hungary, and Russia, where she won numerous league titles and awards.
After playing for 14 seasons in the WNBA, Douglas announced her retirement in February 2016. She finished her career as one of the most accomplished players in women's basketball history, with career averages of 13.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. She also won two Olympic gold medals as a member of the United States women's national team in 2008 and 2012. Douglas's impact on the game of basketball extends beyond her impressive resume; she was widely respected for her work ethic, leadership, and determination on and off the court.
