Keith Erickson is an accomplished basketball player, broadcaster, and musician. He was born on April 19, 1944, in El Segundo, California, and attended El Segundo High School, where he started playing basketball. He went on to play for UCLA from 1963 to 1965, where he helped lead the Bruins to two NCAA championships. During his time at UCLA, he played with legends such as Gail Goodrich, Walt Hazzard, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
In 1965, Keith Erickson was drafted in the third round of the NBA draft by the San Francisco Warriors. He played for several teams throughout his ten-year NBA career, including the Chicago Bulls, Phoenix Suns, Seattle Supersonics, and Los Angeles Lakers. With the Lakers, he won an NBA championship in the 1971-1972 season, playing alongside Hall of Famers like Wilt Chamberlain and Jerry West. Over the course of his NBA career, Erickson averaged 7.2 points and 3.2 rebounds per game, demonstrating his versatility as a player.
After retiring from basketball in 1977, Keith Erickson worked as a broadcaster for the Lakers and other NBA teams. However, his love for music never faded, and he pursued a career as a jazz guitarist. He went on to release several albums and performed with jazz greats like Bill Evans, Dexter Gordon, and Art Pepper. Today, Erickson is remembered not only for his impressive basketball career but for his contributions to the world of music as well.
