Kenny Gattison Autographs
Kenny Gattison is a former American professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for almost a decade. He was born on May 23, 1964, in Wilmington, North Carolina, and graduated from Laney High School, the same school as basketball legend Michael Jordan. Gattison began his college career at the University of Maryland but transferred to Old Dominion University after his freshman year. He played for the ODU Monarchs from 1982 to 1986, becoming one of the best players in school history. Gattison was named the Sun Belt Player of the Year in his senior season after averaging 24.4 points and 11.2 rebounds per game.
Gattison's professional career began when he was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in the third round of the 1986 NBA draft. However, he started his career with the Chicago Bulls after being traded in his rookie season. After two seasons with the Bulls, Gattison joined the Charlotte Hornets in the 1988 NBA expansion draft. It was with the Hornets that Gattison had his best years, being a consistent scorer and rebounder. In the 1991-92 season, he averaged 13.7 points and 7.9 rebounds per game and was named the team's Player of the Year. Gattison later played for the Vancouver Grizzlies and Miami Heat before retiring in 1996.
After his playing career, Gattison remained active in the basketball world. He worked as an assistant coach for several college teams, including North Carolina State, and the NBA's Phoenix Suns. In 2010, he was hired as an assistant coach for the New Orleans Hornets (now the Pelicans), where he worked until 2015. In addition to coaching, Gattison has also been involved in community service work, particularly in his hometown of Wilmington, where he has organized basketball camps and clinics for local youth.
