He was born on July 1, 1989, in Kelford, North Carolina. Bazemore began his basketball career at Bertie High School in Windsor, North Carolina, where he was a standout player. He then played collegiate basketball at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, where he played for four years.
After graduating from Old Dominion University, Bazemore went undrafted in the 2012 NBA draft. However, his talent on the basketball court did not go unnoticed, and he was signed by the Golden State Warriors as a free agent. Bazemore spent two seasons with the Warriors, where he played as a backup shooting guard. In July 2014, he signed with the Atlanta Hawks as a free agent, and he became a regular starter for the team. Bazemore had his breakout season with the Hawks in the 2015-2016 season, where he averaged 11.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.
In July 2019, Bazemore was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers, where he played for two seasons. He then re-signed with the Golden State Warriors in August 2021, returning to the team where he started his career. Throughout his career, Bazemore has established himself as a versatile player with a strong defensive game.
