Lionel Simmons Autographs
Lionel Simmons, born on November 14, 1968, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is a retired American professional basketball player. Standing at 6 feet 7 inches, Simmons started his basketball career in high school, where he played at South Philadelphia High School. He then attended La Salle University, where he played for the La Salle Explorers basketball team from 1986 to 1990. During his college career, he was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Year for three consecutive years and also received the prestigious John R. Wooden Award in 1990.
In 1990, Simmons was drafted by the Sacramento Kings as the seventh overall pick in the first round of the NBA draft. He played for the Kings for five seasons from 1990 to 1995, where he made a significant impact on the team. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team in his first year and also the NBA All-Star Rookie Game MVP in 1991. During his time with the Kings, he averaged 14.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. In 1995, he was traded to the San Antonio Spurs, where he played for two seasons before retiring in 1997 to pursue a career in coaching.
Overall, Simmons had a successful career in basketball, both in college and in the NBA. His impressive achievements and accolades in college led him to be inducted into the La Salle University Athletic Hall of Fame in 1996. He remains one of the most successful players in La Salle history and one of the top scorers in NBA history. Despite his relatively short NBA career, Simmons left a lasting impact on the league and his team, and he is still remembered as one of the best players to come out of Philadelphia.
