Marvin Webster Autographs
Marvin Webster, also known as "The Human Eraser," was a former professional basketball player who left an indelible mark on the sport during his time as a player. Born on April 13, 1952, in Baltimore, Maryland, Webster grew up with a natural inclination towards sports, but it was basketball that he fell in love with. He attended Morgan State University in his hometown where he quickly made a name for himself as one of the most dominant centers of his era.
Webster played for the Morgan State Bears from 1971 to 1975, where he helped lead the team to two Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association titles, including one runner-up finish in the NCAA Division II Championship. His successful college career placed him on the radar of several NBA teams, and he was eventually drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in 1975. Marvin Webster went on to play for several teams in the NBA, including the Hawks, the Seattle SuperSonics, and the New York Knicks. However, it was with the SuperSonics that Webster reached his zenith, contributing significantly to their NBA championship win in 1979.
Endowed with a towering 7'1" frame, extraordinary jumping abilities, and long arms that seemed to stretch forever, Webster was a punishing rebounder and shot-blocker on the court. His intimidating presence in the paint often unnerved opposing teams and players, leading him to be nicknamed "The Human Eraser." Although he suffered a few injuries during his career, Webster remained a steady force in the game and is still considered one of the greatest centers in NBA history. After retiring from basketball, Marvin Webster returned to his hometown in Baltimore and worked as a carpenter until his untimely death in 2009.
